How to read a blood sugar level chart
A blood sugar level chart compares a reading with published ranges for fasting plasma glucose, a 2-hour oral glucose tolerance test, random glucose or A1C. This tool is for non-pregnant adults and reports the range a number falls in.
Glucose readings can be entered in mg/dL or mmol/L. The A1C option uses a percentage and is not converted with the glucose formula.

What does fasting mean here?
Fasting plasma glucose means no food for 8 hours.
Why is random glucose different?
The published diabetes-range threshold for random glucose is 200 mg/dL or above together with classic symptoms. This tool names the range and cannot assess symptoms or diagnose.
Does this tool diagnose diabetes or prediabetes?
No. A single reading can be moved by stress, illness, medication or meter error. Repeat testing and a clinician are needed.
