Features
-
A limit with a basis
Your daily added-sugar ceiling comes from WHO and AHA guidelines, adjusted for your gender and age — not a number someone made up.
-
Added sugar, not total
The app focuses on added sugar, which is what the guidelines actually cap. Fruit isn't the problem the recommendations are aimed at.
-
Fast food logging
A searchable database of common added-sugar sources, built so that logging a snack takes seconds rather than a menu dive.
-
Photo, barcode or voice
Log from a picture, scan a package, or just say what you ate. AI does the first pass and you confirm before anything saves.
-
Your day at a glance
A clean progress ring shows how much of your limit is left, with a weekly calendar tracking the streak behind it.
-
Yours, on your device
Everything runs locally. No accounts, no data collection, no ads.
How it works
-
Set your limit
Enter your gender and age. The app applies WHO and AHA guidelines to set your daily added-sugar ceiling.
-
Log what you eat
Search the database or capture a meal by photo, barcode or voice. Each entry counts against the day's allowance.
-
Stay under it
The ring shows what's left before you spend it. Days under the limit build your streak on the weekly calendar.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is Sugar Tracker free?
Yes. The app is free to download and use, with no ads and no account required.
How is my daily sugar limit set?
From WHO and AHA guidelines, adjusted for your gender and age. Both bodies publish added-sugar ceilings, and the app uses those rather than an arbitrary target.
Does it track added sugar or total sugar?
Added sugar — the kind the WHO and AHA guidelines actually limit. Naturally occurring sugar in whole fruit isn't what those recommendations are aimed at.
How much added sugar do most people eat?
The average American eats more than twice what the WHO and AHA recommend. That excess is what tends to show up as cravings, energy crashes and weight that won't shift.
Can I log a meal from a photo?
Yes. You can log from a photo, a barcode scan, or your voice. AI does the first pass and shows you the result to review and correct before anything is saved.
Will it help with sugar cravings?
It gives you the information cravings tend to hide — which foods are actually spending your daily allowance. Seeing that pattern is usually what makes it possible to change it.
Does it track my streak?
Yes. A weekly calendar shows which days you stayed under your limit, so the habit stays visible.
Is it useful if I'm trying to quit sugar entirely?
Yes. You can set a low limit and use the log to find where added sugar is still getting in — it's usually in things people don't think of as sweet.
Do I need an internet connection or an account?
No account is ever required and your data stays on your device. AI photo, barcode and voice logging need a connection; searching the database and logging by hand work offline.
Does Sugar Tracker work on iPad?
Yes. It runs on both iPhone and iPad.
Can it help with diabetes or blood sugar?
Sugar Tracker records added sugar in what you eat — it doesn't measure blood glucose and isn't a medical device. If you're managing diabetes, use it alongside your doctor's guidance, not instead of it.
What counts as an added sugar?
Sugar added to food during processing or preparation, rather than sugar that occurs naturally in the whole food. The app's database is built around the common sources.
